Dang a tribal area in Gujarat has just 65% literacy, where people strive for their livelihood, as unemployment and poverty is high due to a lack of education, training and vocational skills. In 2006 the Ministry of Panchayati Raj named Dang District as an economically distressed district, one of 250 out of a total of 640 districts. It is one of the six districts in Gujarat currently receiving funds from the Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme.
Mr. G. A. Amreliwala had a vision to provide education and vocational training to the children of Dang and make them self supporting. In 1996, his dream took shape. A hostel for boys and girls was started in a rented house with 9 children in Bhisya, village Dang district. This was the first step with a humble beginning under the name of "G A Amreliwala Education and Medical Charitable Trust". Today the trust now has their own property where they not only houses but also feed, clothe and educate over 200 children of all ages. Some of the children that have graduated from here have returned to help others like them and give back to the institution that helped them become what they are.Visit Us
